Nigerian clothing brand IAMISIGO just released the lookbook for their Spring/Summer 2020 collection tagged “Supreme Higher Entity.” The collection features pieces made of leather and a wide range of colours including black, brown and bronze. According to the brand, the collection is inspired by the female energy and the power and influence that she wields.
She is divine, she is unique, she is powerful, she is female energy, she is complex, she is taking you on a fiber and textile journey exploring African heritage and ancestral savoir-faire.
The brand adds that the collection also explores Africa through female aesthetics.
For our new collection SHE “Supreme Higher Entity,” we explore how the issue of sustainability and waste is affecting us as a people and our ecosystem in Africa. The fashion industry is the second most polluting industry after oil, with Africa being the dumping ground of the world the global community is slowly discovering and taking interest in the importance of fiber and textile culture found in the continent.
We journey through a divine female aesthetics in a neo-colonial world through three great cities of Africa; Kampala, Nairobi, and Lagos, looking to understand the past present and the future of our emerging fashion industry.
