Mowalola Ogunlesi has become something of an enigma in the best possible way. Dropping out of her MA to give her all to the brand, Mowalola has continued to make waves in fashion, from Dazed100 list in 2018 to BellaNaija Style’s 2019 Creatives list, and with client-base including Kanye West, Solange, Nike among others,  she is definitely a game-changer to look out for in the industry.

In the September issue of British Vogue, the publication celebrates Barbie’s 60th anniversary inspired by her diverse range of dolls with varying looks and body types. Vogue tapped six leading emerging designers to each dress a Barbie from the new line of Barbie Fashionista dolls in an outfit inspired by their collections. And Mowalola is among the chosen 6!

The designers were also photographed by Stas Komarovski and styled by Poppy Kain, with their respective Barbie for an exclusive feature.

For hers, Mowalola chose a miniature version of the Acid Cow dress and boots from her Spring/Summer 20 collection tagged “Coming For Blood”. According to her, she chose the colour because she really wanted something that was shocking.

She told Vogue the inspiration behind the look she chose for Barbie:

Mine is a world where everyone is free in terms of what they wear, in terms of how they think. And my women aren’t threatened by anyone – they are taking back their power.”

She is a Mowalola superhero. She’s strong and captivating and ready to have a really good time. I want to be wherever she’s going.
