Lagos Fashion Week’s CRAFTED: Heritage. Innovation. Circular Futures. theme invited designers to explore the possibilities of craftsmanship, materials and creative expression. For Studio Imo, however, craft goes beyond the finished garment. It begins with community, collaboration and the shared knowledge that allows creative traditions to live on.
Titled CLAN, the brand’s Spring/Summer 2027 collection explores the bonds that connect creative communities and keep craftsmanship alive across generations. As Studio Imo explains,
“At the heart of craftsmanship is community. It is a bond that survives entropy, erasure and trends. Discoveries shared, traditions preserved, ideas revisited by a new generation with new sensibilities.”
This philosophy came through in a presentation that explored crochet, patchwork and a mix of textures, celebrating the skill and artistry involved in bringing different materials and ideas together. The collection’s message was clear: craft does not exist in isolation. It thrives when artists collaborate, learn from one another and embrace the communities they belong to.
“Craft survives on community and collaboration, on each individual artist embracing the clan,” the brand adds. With CLAN, Studio Imo offered a thoughtful interpretation of this year’s theme, reminding audiences that behind every crafted piece is often a network of hands, knowledge and shared stories.
