Last week, Dunnie O and Joon Africa came together to celebrate beauty and meaningful discourse, highlighting the voices and experiences of female beauty and fashion entrepreneurs . An intimate crowd gathered at Tyson’s Corner Centre in Virginia for the first Afro Beauty Brunch. Among those who came out to support the new brunch series and Dunnie were Rita Oluchi Obi, founder of Corporate Black Girl 101, Winnie Monu, founder of Igbo Girl Brunch and fashion stylist Ivy Turkson of Phasod Styles—all dressed in various ankara prints for the event.
Themed “NEW Year, BEST Me!” the event featured a brief panel discussion, live demos, shopping and great food and drinks had guests buzzing well into the evening.
Check out some guest commentary and all the photos from the event below!
AfroBeauty Brunch was magical — ‘African Girl Magic’ personified!
A room filled with nothing less than smiles, phones out sharing each other’s contacts and music playing it was everything our world should be — Joy!
June & Dunnie did an exceptional job putting this event together. They created a space for love, transparency, and beauty! This is the NEW ‘women’s empowerment’ taking action and sharing from one another.
Thank you Dunnie & June! It was an honor being part of your panelist ✨- Winnie Monu
