#DestinationKFW: All Railroads Lead to Kampala Fashion Week this SeptemberFor all our East African BellaStylistas, we’re super excited to announce that Kampala Fashion Week (KFW) returns with its 5th edition this year from the 27th – 29th September.

Ugandan’s most influential fashion platform, Kampala Fashion Week (KFW) promotes Ugandan designers and Fashion designers around the continent to a large global market. The organization was created to support and strengthen the design industry in Uganda as well as enhance the cultural and creative talent that the country and continent has to offer. KFW is powered by the Ugandan Fashion Council (UFC).

The organizers said;

When we were generating ideas for this landmark edition, our team nostalgically reflected upon how far we have come since our first designer showcases in 2014. From holding our first KFW at a former airport to our third edition taking place at an industrial warehouse – we have never been afraid to undertake a creative challenge. We seek to provoke change, encourage fashion and the arts, as well as pushing boundaries and limits. Looking back, we can see how far the fashion industry and community has come in Kampala and we are proud and honoured to be a part of that journey.

The organizers also announced that the location for Kampala Fashion Week this year will be the Kampala Railway Station while introducing the SEED Project Showcase and the Pop-up Black Market retail experience for guests and fashion lovers.

That brings us to this year’s location – Constructed in the 1890’s the Kampala Railway Station was an economically strong and strategic achievement for Uganda’s infrastructure. An inspiration for us to create a transformative, symbolic experience of the spirit of Kampala city. To showcase the growth and development of Uganda, and to inspire and motivate our art community and audience.

The season will begin with an invite only SEED Project Showcase (Skilled Expressive Entrepreneurial Designers) supporting fashion entrepreneurship by the US Mission, followed by two days of designer showcases.

Partnering once again with LDJ Productions, there will be over 22 designer collections, a Pop-up Black Market retail experience and pre and after parties – our fifth edition season has arrived. #destinationkfw
