For the World Designer Award Fashion Shoot at the Miss World 2025 contest taking place in Telangana, India, Miss World Nigeria, Joy Mojisola Raimi, wore a self-designed costume that showcases not only her creativity but also offers a modern take on traditional Tiv woven red and black fabric with its corset and exaggerated sleeves.

The Miss World Instagram page featured a caption explaining the look:

“This look is a bold tribute to Nigeria’s Tiv culture, marked by striking red-and-black stripes that symbolise strength and unity. At its heart lies an armour-like bodice, meticulously crafted with thousands of hand-applied beads, honouring the artistry and rhythm of Nigerian craftsmanship.

With bold shoulders and a regal overskirt, the silhouette channels the spirit of the Tiv woman—fierce, rooted in tradition, and ablaze with purpose. More than fashion, this creation is a living statement: a celebration of heritage, power, and pride. It was designed by Miss World Nigeria herself!”

Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of this look is how, throughout the competition, Joy has been representing diverse parts of Nigeria, extending beyond her ethnic group, through the outfits she has chosen. This particular outfit is a visual representation of the strength and courage of a Nigerian woman. We wish her the best of luck as the competition proceeds to its finale on May 31st.
