Christmas isn’t cancelled but kissing under the mistletoe is. All thanks to coronavirus, the killjoy of the year. Indeed, we have all had enough, so let’s raise a glass and toast to surviving 2020! This time around, we suggest you reconsider what’s in your glass. Don’t toast with the same old cliche booze we do in Lagos — mixing spirits with soft drinks—and try something new.

Whether you’re hosting guests or a member of the stay-home-and- chill community, the Mistletoe Margarita is a great cocktail to try. We call this a “safe kiss” cocktail. It’s a twist to the classic recipe. Made with cranberry juice, lime juice, tequila and garnished with mint leaves. One of our favourites. Quick and easy, this cocktail is what we think you’ll enjoy if you like margaritas. Plus, it makes you look like the ultimate mixologist; taking you from beginner to pro just like that. Here are four simple steps to make a safe kiss.

Ingredients
80ml Cranberry juice
60ml Tequila
15ml Triple sec- orange liqueur
15ml Lime juice
1 cup cubed ice
Fresh cranberries
Mint leaves

Step 1

In the blender, put 1 cup of ice then add the first four ingredients; cranberry juice, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice.

Step 2

Blend until smooth. You can add more ice if you prefer, to achieve your desired consistency.

Step 3

Pour the mixture into a glass rimmed with either a sugar-salt mix or just salt.

Step 4

Garnish with fresh cranberries and mint leaves. For that extra pizzazz, thread the cranberries on a toothpick.

Cheers! And remember to #SocializeResponsibly
