@bouswari

Bouswari is a contemporary brand which offers practical, creative designs for the modern customer.

BNS: Why did you start your line ?

I started Bouswari because I wanted to tell my African story. The Africa that is modern, creative, contemporary and very much alive. The best way of doing this was to create amazing products made in Africa. This is how Bouswari is born.

BNS: Who is your favourite celebrity or influencer to work with?

I have worked with many influencers starting from Cassidy Neves from Style by Seven, Chloe Zhang, Gillis from the AfrofusionSpot to Tracey from Lipstick and Muffin Girl. I would love all the celebrities to wear and represent Bouswari. My celebrity crush is Lupita Nyong’o who I would love to count among our ambassadors.

BNS: How would you describe your label?

Bouswari is a contemporary brand which offers practical, creative designs for the modern customer.

BNS: What do you believe should be the foundation of every woman’s wardrobe?

The foundation of every woman’s wardrobe should be a nice pair of pants or jeans, a white cotton shirt, a stylish jacket, a nice pair of shoes (flats or heels) and of course a fancy Bouswari bag!

BNS: Who is the Bouswari  woman?

The Bouswari woman is stylish, independent, curious, open minded, conscious and nice. She likes to travel and discover new countries, culture and food. She is very keen on creative designs and quality products.

BNS: Where do you get style inspiration?

I get my inspiration from the  African continent. The African touch in Bouswari’s products is subtle.  Our products are inspired by the diverse African traditions and cultures.   For example, I have revisited some traditional handbags, such as the Nafa crossbody which  is inspired and named after the traditional nafa bag used by Senegalese women. The original nafa is a small bag, usually triangular, that was worn around the neck or as a crossbody. It was used by some women to carry pipes and tobacco. No Senegalese woman would wear a traditional costume without a Nafa. Lingeers too (queens and princesses) would not go out without their colourful nafas. Each collection should take our clients to a new African experience.

The Bouswari woman is stylish, independent, curious, open minded, conscious and nice.
