It was a busy holiday for the Lagos fashion scene – in between the KAI Collective Influencer brunch and Temi Otedola’s talk with Ade Samuel, on Friday, 15th December came the turn of Andrea Iyamah with the brand owner Dumebi Iyamah jetting into the city to cater to her fashion house’s new Victoria Island store.
The celebrations started with cocktails in the chic space while guests browsed the brand’s new home, stopping occasionally to congratulate the A.I team.
The stylish crowd in attendance included Lagos Fashion and Design Week founder Omoyemi Akerele, LSF|PR CEO Bidemi Zakariyau, Actresses Genevieve Nnaji, Adesua Etomi, Zainab Balogun, and Musician Falana.
As with any Andrea Iyamah initiative, the store located at 32 Adetokunbo Ademola, is as pleasing to the eye as her designs and offers exclusive fashion services including wedding dress consultations for brides.
The retro-chic space was designed by sister-company Andru Interior, incorporating wood, earthy elements and a burst of daylight. With a dedicated colour palette for the showroom and the fitting room, the store is equipped with the brand’s eccentric swimwear and chic ready-to-wear pieces.
At the opening, Dumebi said:
Looking at the brand’s history and style, Andrea Iyamah’s African roots are celebrated internationally but it is important to not just build a brand inspired by the culture but also be within the space of the culture, making our brand more accessible.
The Nigerian owned brand boasts of a clientele of celebrities including Issa Rae, Adrienne Bailon, Christina Milian, Jeannie Mai, Tia Mowry, Angela Simmons, Genevieve Nnaji, Bonang Matheba, and Somkele Iyamah Idhalama.
All those in Lagos with a penchant for her unique designs will now be able to exclusively shop the SS18 collection which debuted at Lagos Fashion and Design week last year.
