Africa’s most talked about red carpet event, Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards is only a couple of days away, we sat down with the hairstylist to the stars, Patrick Omale to discuss some of the beauty trends to look out for as well as red carpet Do’s and Don’ts at the 2018 AMVCAs.

When was your first time working for a client at the AMVCAs? What was the experience like?
2015. It was a great opportunity having styled the Regional manager (Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu) and seeing my work on a big platform gave me a eureka moment.
Can you tell us which celebrities you will be working with this year?
I honestly do not know for now until I get the memo.
Which celebrities’ looks are you most excited to see this year?
Rita Dominic and Somkele Idhalama
What have been your favourite AMVCA looks so far?
Hmm… My favourite look has always been the simplicity and class [which] Rita Dominic never fails to serve [every time].
What trends should we look out for this year?
Short edgy hairstyles and finger waves
What are some things you do/don’t want to see on the Red Carpet this year?
Do: Originality and Authenticity
Don’t: Tacky and messy looks
