Adele Dejak Is The Cutting Edge Nairobi-Based Jewelry Brand You Need to Discover

I am passionate about what I do and what I create. Originally, I was designing and creating pieces for myself because I could not find designs that I connected with. Eventually, because people always wanted the pieces I created, I started my making my pieces for sale. Although I have always loved jewellery since I was young, passion ignites something within me.

Collaborating with Salvatore Ferragamo was a huge privilege. I thoroughly enjoyed working with his team on the iconic fashion bags in support of the third edition of the Bags for Africa auction. It was a very beautiful and challenging project considering Ferragamo’s team was based in Florence, Italy whereas my team and I worked from Nairobi, Kenya. On my wish list, I would like to work with Solange Knowles, Shadé Akanbi and Michelle Obama.

On style inspiration

Everywhere! However, I get most of my inspiration from books like Angela Fisher’s collections. Sometimes an idea will come to my mind, I’d create it and try it because I am my own guinea pig. I find that what I like, most people like too.

How would you describe your label?

An affordable luxury, African jewellery and accessories brand that produces unique, beautifully handcrafted pieces made from a blend of traditional and modern materials for every woman to wear in every occasion.

What do you believe should be the foundation of every woman’s wardrobe?

If they have their ears pierced, a stunning pair of earrings; and rings, lots and lots of rings. I love rings so much that I had a ring party at my Village Market shop in Kenya this month.
