Folu Storms clearly understands the power of a statement silhouette. And her latest look at the Lagos Fashion Week x Moet & Chandon Cocktail is making a very convincing case for bringing a little more drama. And colour, into our wardrobes.
Dressed in a rich berry-toned pleated creation by Neptunes, Folu delivered the kind of sculptural fashion moment that makes you stop in your tracks. The high neckline and exaggerated, almost wing-like shoulders create a striking architectural shape reminiscent of the master, Issey Miyake , while the cinched waist and cascading, asymmetrical pleats bring movement and femininity to an otherwise commanding silhouette.
There’s a lot happening here, from the voluminous upper half to the flared detailing around the skirt, but the proportions work beautifully. And that colour? Somewhere between burgundy and raspberry, it’s a refreshing departure from the predictable neutrals and bold prints we’ve grown accustomed to seeing.

A sleek, pulled-back ponytail, softly sculpted cheeks, smoky eyes, fluttery lashes and glossy nude lips provide a strong look to complement with the dress. Those elongated gold statement earrings by Symbols of Authority are especially clever, drawing the eye towards the neckline while complementing the warmth of her makeup.
And the unexpected apple-green open-toe heels add a little personality to the ensemble. It’s bold, feminine and unapologetically glamorous, exactly the sort of fashion moment we’d like to see more of this fashion season.
Are you as sold on this berry hue as we are?
