London Fashion Week opened with a moment that felt as symbolic as it was stylish. King Charles III made an appearance at the opening of London Fashion Week, which this season spotlighted British Nigerian designer Tolu Coker and her latest presentation. Held at the iconic 180 Strand, the show, titled Survivor’s Remorse, unfolded as a layered exploration of nostalgia, memory, and community.

From the outset, it was clear this was  a runway moment and a cultural one. The collection leaned into Coker’s signature storytelling approach, where fashion becomes a vehicle for heritage and emotional recall.

Setting the tone for the evening was an opening performance by Little Simz, whose presence added another layer of meaning to the show’s themes. The collaboration also carries history. Last year, Tolu Coker dressed the award winning artist when she accepted her Cultural Innovator of the Year honour, making this reunion on the London runway feel both full circle and quietly powerful.
