Imagine a sultan of a sultanate riding his camel in the desert. That was the image projected by Nigerian stylist and “Young, Famous & African” reality TV star, Swanky Jerry, as he powerfully represented African culture and style at the 2025 BET Awards.

His outfit, designed by House of Vieve, was made with a material known in Nigeria as ‘Guinea brocade’ or, in Senegal, ‘bazin’. The intricate embroidery and tassels were reminiscent of Senegalese men in the bazin and babariga from Northern Nigeria. The turban further amplified the sultan-like aesthetic of the outfit. Interestingly, he chose a wrapper over trousers underneath, a detail truly in line with ancient male attire.

On the red carpet, Swanky Jerry shared a few moments with Dancehall Queen, Spice Official, whom he styled. She looked beautiful in a gorgeous blue dress with the most dramatic shoulder pads, designed by Nigerian designer Emagine by Bukola.

Ultimately, Swanky Jerry’s appearance on the red carpet was a masterclass in cultural fusion, powerfully spotlighting the richness and versatility of African fashion to an international audience.
