Lupita Nyong’o is no doubt a natural hair chameleon, whatever style the actress rocks always looks good on her

She started this year with lots of #HairGoal moments, including her latest debut at the premiere of #BlackPanther in Los Angeles. With the help of her talented stylist Vernon Francois, Nyong’o took our breath away in a hairdo truly fit for a queen.

The high updo in an ornate jewel caged harness was inspired by Nigerian photographer J.D. Okhai Ojeikere‘s modern Shuku photos from his Hairstyles series.

Before he passed on in 2014, Ojeikere was a forerunner of the practice of documentary photography in Nigeria. Over the course of his life, he recorded more than a thousand hairstyles in the series of photographs, which includes both popular and ceremonial styles, of historical and anthropological significance, as well as aesthetic value.

Lupita announced it on her Instagram page, showing her hair and the photos that inspired the look:
