Lagos Fashion Week x Woven Threads III wrapped up yesterday, here is a recap of how day 2 went.

The doors to the physical installation – Untitled @ So.nne opened to the public alongside the Lagos Fashion Week SwapShop.

The installation and SwapShop were on till 7 pm.

Speaking to the future of sustainable fashion in Africa, the first Fashion Business Series panel moderated by Jesse Uranta featured Fela Akinse (Founder, Salabuta), Eliana Kuo (Co-Founder, Lablaco), Niyi Okeowo (Co-Founder, Thrill Digital), and Baboa Tachie-Menson (Founder, Balmlabs). Themed Buying Digital Fashion, the session delved into how digital fashion has gone from an experimental to an emerging industry, which is now crafting a move toward sustainability.

Designers Abigail Ajobi, Lila Bare, and Kadiata Diallo (Founder, Niuku) showcased digital presentations of their collections and a rare view into their creative process.

The second FBS session featured panellists: Adebayo Oke-Lawal (Founder, Orange Mentorship), Andrea Iyamah (Founder, Seed Ambition), and Emmy Kasbit (Founder, The Emmy Kasbit Initiative) who spoke on Fostering Creativity. The session explored how creativity can be developed. Suggested strategies included collaboration, access to funding etc.

The blockchain-enabled Swap Shop experience also went live with pieces from Mai Atafo, Emmy Kasbit, and Rekana available to Swap. Putting into practice the foundations of a circular economy that prioritises reuse, reduce & recycling, the SwapShop initiative invited consumers to think about the ways they can affect change with their own buying choices by facilitating the exchange of pre-owned items through swapping, sharing, donating and resale.

Day 3: What Went Down

Lagos Fashion Week x Woven Threads III wrapped up yesterday. It consisted of digital presentations from Lagos Space Programme and Tolu Coker. 

Under the Lagos Fashion Week Presents platform, Salubata launched their Equity-based NFT on www.meyamarket.studio. NFT holders with Early Access unlocked exclusive access to Salubata’s VIP events and virtual land experiences in the Metaverse; and placed orders for the physical product In Real Life.
