When they say fabrics tell a story, this is exactly what they mean.

At first glance, Kiky Faminu‘s engagement look catches you with its colour and sparkle. A soft green-and-peach beaded bodice meets a richly detailed wrapper, finished with a sculptural silhouette and a beautifully structured pink gele. But look a little closer, and there is a whole story woven into it.

Created by Prudential Atelier in collaboration with stylist The Style Infidel, the look was designed to do more than create a beautiful traditional wedding moment. The idea was to evoke an emotion, tell a story and make the bride’s heritage and relationship part of what she wore.

According to Prudential Atelier, “the colour story is what catches you first.” The harmony between the green and peach keeps the look cohesive, while the sculptural construction brings the fashion house’s signature sense of structure into a traditional silhouette.

Then comes the wrapper, where the real storytelling begins.

Rather than using a conventional fabric, the design incorporates references to the bride’s Enugu heritage, including yam festival imagery, firewood and other cultural motifs. There are also details inspired by the couple’s relationship, turning the garment into something far more personal than a beautiful wedding outfit.

Even the bodice has a story to tell. Its green-and-peach beaded design takes inspiration from a keyboard, with the beads incorporating the couple’s names and significant dates.

It is the kind of look that rewards a second look. From the colour palette to the beadwork, heritage references and sculptural construction, almost nothing is there just for decoration.

This is traditional wedding dressing with a memory attached to every detail.
