In Africa, weddings are a big deal. It takes months of preparations and planning as everyone wants a perfect wedding ceremony. It also brings family and friends together to celebrate. The major focus is on the couple but that doesn’t mean the guests shouldn’t look their best. As a wedding guest, the most important thing to keep in mind is that you aim to look cool and stylish. However, you do not want to distract attention from the bride or draw attention for the wrong reasons.

For this post, I’m flying the Nigerian fashion flag and doing justice to this lovely outfit by Obinna Omeruo. Obinna Omeruo is a Nigerian brand I love because of the subtle twist they give Nigerian traditional outfits. I am wearing an otherwise common outfit popularly known as Senator.

It’s called so because it’s a popular style seen on male Nigerian senators and political figures in general. The brand has added a unique detail (as it’s said, the devil is in the detail) which has transformed the outfit. The fringe details on the chest and back area are simply amazing. The fabric is made from integrated poly cotton which makes it comfortable so can be worn all year round. It’s perfect for a wedding guest who plans to make a fashion statement in a simple yet impactful way.

I have styled this outfit with a pair of black loafers with gold studs and a black hat. I used gold accessories as it complements the outfit. Remember, you can’t use lace-up shoes when wearing traditional outfits. Monk straps, velvet slippers or smart loafers are acceptable. It’s also important for your outfit to be properly tailored and fit like a glove.

I hope you love the attire! Let me know what you think!
