Breakout-style star Beverly Naya can always be counted on to put her most fashionable foot forward. At the Bling Lagosians Premiere, she looked incredibly stylish in a directional take on the Eko for show theme.

From her dress and gele to the accessories and makeup, the whole was perfectly on theme, – no doubt, she made everyone’s Best Dressed list at the event!

We discussed with Weiz Dhurm Franklyn, who designed the look and he took us through his process:

In creating the Haute Couture Look for Beverly Naya, I first had to digest and understand the theme “Eko No Dey Carry Last“.

The first thing that comes to mind is the Owambe lifestyle; where everyone wants to look better than the host of the occasion. Lagos being the fashion hub of Africa, a character is birthed “Madame Extraordinaire“; the Owambe godmother of godmothers and she is elegant, a showstopper, she is “wearable art” and she is the party itself in a party.

Evoking the Madame Extraordinaire and embracing muted pastel tones that glorify the beauty of Black Girl Magic, an intensive 92 hours Haute couture dress was created.

A pastel mint green structured chandelier sleeve corseted bodice and dripping crystals on sheath mesh with pastel purple hand painted florals. Organza of seven different shades of green was cut in multiple strips creating a water wave-like pattern on the borderline which was then arranged strip by strip from the most desaturated tone into saturated tone.
