What comes to mind when you think of an ancient Yoruba king? It should definitely be the outfit worn by fashion content creator and influencer Akin Faminu for the 2025 Ojude Oba festival. Akin’s ensemble is a masterclass in regality. The prominent shoulder pads give the outfit a majestic look, almost like a king’s shoulder armour ready for war.

Akin’s navy blue aso-oke, featuring golden stripes, was made by the renowned Nigerian fashion house, Deji & Kola. His fila (traditional cap) clearly showed he was fully representing his Yoruba heritage, and we absolutely love to see it. Let’s also take a moment to appreciate his interesting walking staff, shaped like a snake coiled to form its structure. His entire look is majestic and fit for a King or, as the Yoruba call it, an Oba.
