Ms. Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu have been photographed together for the first time in history for Outlander Magazine, creating a rare meeting of two artists whose influence extends far beyond music.

The portraits bring together two women who have each shaped the way Black creativity, individuality and style are seen around the world. From their music to their distinct approaches to fashion and beauty, Hill and Badu have spent decades building visual identities that are instantly recognisable.

Adding a Nigerian touch to the historic shoot, Ngozi Edememe, popularly known as Painted By Esther, was responsible for the makeup. Known for her artistry and ability to create beauty looks that complement rather than overpower the subject, Esther brought her perspective to the moment.

For a shoot featuring two women with such strong individual aesthetics, the beauty direction had to feel considered. The makeup allows their features to remain at the centre of the portraits while contributing to the polished, editorial feel of the shoot.

And beyond the beauty and the significance of seeing these two legends photographed together, the moment is a celebration of Black creative excellence across generations and borders.

A historic photograph, two cultural icons and Nigerian beauty talent behind the scenes. We love to see it.
