Fashion and cinema continue to find exciting ways to meet in Nollywood, and the latest example comes from Black Market, the highly anticipated film directed by Fatimah Gimsay.

Ahead of the movie’s release, the cast has unveiled PUMA as the official merchandise partner, and the announcement came with a fashion moment of its own. Rather than simply posing in branded merchandise, the cast turned the coordinated PUMA tees into the starting point for a series of playful, colourful looks.

The campaign brings together the cast in PUMA’s Black Market tees, styled alongside pieces from Nigerian designers, creating a visual that feels equal parts movie campaign and fashion editorial.

And BellaStylistas, the skirts are where things get interesting.

From dramatic fringe and feather-like textures to voluminous balloon shapes and intricate straw detailing, the cast brings personality to the simple tees by pairing them with statement-making Nigerian fashion pieces. The result is a coordinated campaign that still allows each woman’s individual style to come through.

The colour palette is just as playful. Deep greens sit alongside bright purples, fresh blues, vibrant greens and sunny yellow, giving the shoot a youthful energy that feels perfectly suited to a film campaign.

The styling also shows how much a simple branded tee can do when paired with the right statement piece. Instead of looking like traditional merchandise photography, the Black Market cast makes the pieces feel like part of a complete wardrobe, with texture, proportions and colour doing the heavy lifting.

But there is more to Black Market than its fashion campaign. The movie is also aiming for a major milestone, with plans for a 50,000-person screening as part of an attempt at a Guinness World Record.

With cinema, fashion and a record-breaking ambition all coming together, Black Market is already making plenty of noise before audiences even get to see the film.

For us, though, we will be watching the fashion closely. Because if this campaign is anything to go by, the Black Market press tour could have plenty more style moments in store.
