As the 2026 Cannes Film Festival gets underway in France, Hollywood’s most stylish names have started arriving on La Croisette to promote their latest projects. Yes, the film lineup is major, with stars like Sandra Hüller, Scarlett Johansson and Hoyeon on the roster, but Cannes has always been just as much about the clothes as the cinema. Sometimes, let’s be honest, the red carpet is the main event.
This year, Ethiopian-Irish star Ruth Negga is already making a strong case for best-dressed status. As a member of the 2026 Cannes jury, the actor will be attending premieres, photocalls and official festival events throughout the next two weeks, which means plenty of opportunities for fashion moments. And just a few days in, she and stylist Karla Welch are clearly not wasting a single one.
Negga has long understood how to make a red carpet feel elegant without looking predictable. Her style tends to sit somewhere between Old Hollywood glamour and modern cool, and her Cannes wardrobe so far is right in that sweet spot. For the jury photocall, she wore a satin white Celine set featuring a twisted tailored top and wide-leg trousers, finished with caged heels and sleek metal-frame sunglasses. It was polished, unfussy and extremely chic.
For the opening ceremony, she shifted into full Cannes mode in a Dior Couture gown made from hammered green satin, edged with black lace and finished with long strands of fringe, ribbon and beads. It had the drama expected from a major festival gown, but without feeling heavy or overworked.
The best part? Cannes is only getting started. With more premieres, screenings and official appearances still to come, Negga’s festival wardrobe is already one we are absolutely obsessing over.
