At this year’s AMVCAs red carpet, the brides arrived early. There were sweeping ivory silhouettes and corseted bodices to veils, lace embellishments, satin trains, and enough pearl detailing to outfit an entire bridal showroom. The night quickly began to resemble a luxury wedding moodboard. One after the other, celebrities stepped onto the carpet in looks that felt less “award show glamour” and more “walk me down the aisle.”

Of course, Uzoamaka Power and Andrew Yaw Bunting, came dressed as a bride and groom, giving us many kisses on the red carpet, in anticipation of their new movie dropping May 15th. But for others, after the third or fourth bridal-coded ensemble, the question practically asked itself: did some attendees secretly decide on an unofficial theme?

Of course, the AMVCAs have always embraced dramatic fashion. It is one of the few Nigerian red carpets where spectacle is encouraged, even expected. But this year’s fixation on bridal aesthetics felt unusually coordinated, whether intentional or not. Some stars leaned into full-on couture bride territory, while others flirted with softer interpretations; think ethereal whites, structured mermaid gowns, romantic draping, and cathedral-worthy silhouettes.

The result? A red carpet that oscillated between movie premiere and high-fashion wedding editorial.

Here are some of the bridal-inspired looks that had everyone doing a double-take.
