My brand has given me the opportunity to voice my creations in the world. I am excited for everyone who has appreciated my works.

Tell us about designing Tim Kubart’s suit for the Grammys

Tim Kubart came to Nigeria last year to work with children through a music and dance workshop with the US Embassy. It was a life-changing experience for him. For the Grammy’s, he wanted a western suit, but with Nigerian colours and more importantly, made by a Nigerian designer. And that was what spurred me on in-creating a classic yet simple 2-piece bespoke shawl lapel, custom-made green western suit. The green color representing Nigeria because of the experience he had during his last trip to Nigeria. His style is very minimal. He didn’t want something too loud, he wanted a fitted simple yet classic suit.

How is 2019 looking for you as a Designer?

I mean the only constant thing in life is change. And change is all about growth. In the words of Ralph Lauren, we would not just design clothes but we would design dreams. Yes!!!!

What should we expect for next season from the RICKDUSI brand

For next season definitely my spring Summer collections. We are currently working on shooting our Autum winter 19 collection which we were suppose to showcase in South Africa on the 9th of this month but as we reply this interview our passport is still at the South African embassy with the last email received in January from the South African embassy that our visa is been processed.
