The 2018 American Music Awards held last night and there were so many amazing artists honoured. While all the stars came out dressed to the nines – from frothy gowns to bold sparkling mini dresses (Hi Taylor Swift), no one can deny that all eyes were fixed on the host with the most Tracee Ellis Ross who reminded everyone of her side passion for fashion with not 1 but 10 looks for the night!

And that wasn’t the most epic part of the idea, every designer she selected was black! As the show progressed she tweeted out the details for every design- how cool is that?! She wrote on Twitter: “I’ve featured black designers in all of my @AMAs press looks. Will do the same for all my show looks tonight! Stay tuned for look-by-look details!”

One of her most head-turning looks for the Tuesday night event was an Ankara floor length dress designed by Cameroonian designer Lavie By CK.  The vibrant deep V-neck princess fishtail dress from the brand’s Royal Matrimony collection accentuated Tracee’s curves perfectly and gave the needed dramatic effect for the Award show with its bulky double layers of fabric at the sleeves and midi region flowing down to the ground.

She accessorised the flamboyant look with Stuart Weitzman earrings and pumps with her hair braided in simple cornrows – African princess style!

The Claude Lavie Kameni led brand has become a connoisseur of over the top Ankara pieces in the United States garnering an IT girl following from Jackie Aina and Nyakim Gatwechto superstar Janet Jackson, who wore a piece from the brand earlier this year for a video shoot.

Virgil Abloh’s Off-White (Women’s) Spring/Summer 2018 collection also made it to Tracee’s selection of stunning looks. Leaving her natural hair in a pretty big blowout, Tracee looked like a fairy princess in the tulle dress.
