The Style Lounge Platform, the home for Africa’s emerging fashion talent curated by Debonair Afrik, has teamed up with the KGL Foundation to launch WA-BA-SO, a programme built specifically to pour into the next generation of Ghanaian fashion creatives. Not just with exposure and clout, but with the real stuff: skills, mentorship, business knowledge, and actual industry connections.
So what exactly is WA-BA-SO?
It is an intensive creative development programme that takes you from wherever you are right now and builds you into a more equipped, more confident, more business-ready fashion professional. It brings together fashion designers and illustrators, stylists and visual merchandisers, and fashion communicators all under one roof, because great fashion is never just one person’s job.
Participants get access to workshops, hands-on training, and face time with established professionals who have actually done it. The programme wraps up in an exhibition-style showcase where creatives present their journeys, from the first concept all the way through to execution, giving them visibility within the wider fashion community in a way that actually matters.
The Style Lounge Platform put it simply,
“The goal has always been to create real opportunities for young African fashion brands, not just a moment in the spotlight, but the tools, the networks, and the resources to actually build something lasting. WA-BA-SO is the next step in that vision.”
The KGL Foundation coming on board is imperative because of their track record in youth empowerment and skills development in Ghana’s creative industries aligns perfectly with what this programme is trying to do.
Who is this for?
If you are a designer, a stylist, a fashion illustrator, or someone working in fashion communication in Ghana, this is worth paying attention to. The programme is designed to meet creatives across the ecosystem, so whatever your role in fashion, there is a place for you here.
Ghana’s fashion industry has the talent. WA-BA-SO is building the infrastructure around it.
