The dramatic title of the movie, ‘My Mother Is A Witch,’ set the stage for bold fashion at its premiere, and one of the leading actors, Mercy Aigbe, nailed it completely. Red usually connotes danger, blood, and even death, and the premiere’s colour was a bold red.

Mercy chose a red mermaid dress that immediately brought to mind the powerful villainy of Disney’s Maleficent and Mother Gothel, especially with its dramatic standing cape that cascaded down her sleeves. It takes a certain carriage to carry such a strong, monochromatic look, and she did so effortlessly. The ruching in the middle tailored the dress to a perfect fit, and with her hair styled in an elegant bun, the focus remained on the captivating drama of the outfit.

If the goal was to portray a beautifully dressed villain, then Mercy didn’t miss the mark.
