The 2019 Film Gala which was held in partnership with Filmhouse and Moët and Chandon took place on the 26th of January 2019 and we witnessed  our favourite style stars turning out in force on one of the most important nights of the Nigerian film industry. Although the Film Gala was held with the main purpose of celebrating all the recent progress and significant achievements  made by and within the Nigerian film industry, it was a perfect avenue for A-list stars and influencers to step out and stun on the red carpet and boy did they do just that!

The theme for the event Married To The Arts gave room for a lot of varying interpretations as each star tailored it to their personal style. Amongst the many standout looks –  each very different from the other and individual to the star in question – we couldn’t help but notice a few trends that were in pretty strong rotation.

From reoccurring colours to thedramatic sleeves and headpieces, here are the four trends that were in high rotation on the Film Gala 2019’s red carpet.

1. Green With Style

@theelizabeth_

Green seemed to be the color of choice for our Style stars as quite a number of them turned up in it. From PR Maven Elizabeth Osho, to the host of the night, the ever stylish Toni Tones whose first look of the night was a sultry green number from Nigerian eponymous womenswear brand Lanre DaSilva Ajayi to the dashing actor who stole everyone’s heart with his smile Timini Egbuson to name a few, celebrities were definitely having a very stylish green moment.

2. Black But Dramatic

@mimionalaja
@tajeprest

Who doesn’t love a little fashionable drama? Definitely not these style stars! Some of our favourite style stars stepped out to the Film Gala‘s red carpet dressed in all black ‘fits with just the right amount of drama. From the always chic and stylish Mimi Onalaja to TV host Tajé Prest, quite a number of stars went black and dramatic and we lived for their looks – especially the sleeves.

3. Ladies In Red

@lalaakindoju
@urueke

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner it’ll be important to take note to how these celebrities stunned in the colour red during the Film Gala 2019. These celebrities reminded us just how powerful and sultry the colour red is. From Shaffy Bello who was a true belle of the ball in a red to this outfit from actress Uru Eke which is definitely one for the style history books to Lala Akindoju whose outfit was simple and stylish, these red outfits are bound to get recreated this coming Valentine’s Day.

4. Attention Grabbing Headpieces

@iamshaffybello
@inidimaokojie

We spotted this on the likes of Toyin Lawani, Shaffy Bello and, a more muted version, on Ini Dima-Okojie. These stars showed us how important a headpiece, especially one that grabs everyone’s attention, is to an outfit and how it could be the one thing that takes it from a 10 to a 100.
