The largest annual African fashion event in Europe, Africa Fashion Week London, is back for its 10th season!

In the statement following the announcement, the organization emphasized its drive to promote African fashion while observing health and safety measures. Therefore, #AFWL2021 will be a hybrid event featuring live and virtual activations, taking place on the 13th and 14th of August at Freemasons’ Hall, Covent Garden in London.

As we recover from Covid-19 and enter our 11th anniversary, AFWL returns with a virtual and live-action hybrid event featuring a mix of digital activations, exhibitions, and presentations.

While we will have a physical presence, this season will feel different, more localized, more intimate as we will have fewer participants arriving from other countries. That is not to say we won’t have a packed schedule. We will be forgoing our usual catwalk shows in favour of our fashion business talks forum with high-level speakers; masterclasses on African textile-making techniques; African hair design presentations, digital activations on our big screens, and, of course, our beloved exhibitors selling a multitude of accessories, apparel, and hair & beauty products in the halls.

This mix of exclusive multimedia content from our non-traveling designers and brand partners and live talks and demonstrations, we hope will support our global roster of African designers – particularly those hard hit by Covid-19 – and bring together fashion and technology, sustainability, and heritage.

Africa Fashion Week London is one of the major global showcases of African fashion and design striving to support our African -inspired emerging designers and continue our ethos for the next generation.
