One of the highlights of the episode was their take on malva pudding, the beloved South African dessert known for its rich, sponge-like texture and sweet caramel flavour. As they cooked together, Tyla also shared one of her favourite kitchen tips: always sauté your onions first.

According to the Grammy-winning singer, taking the time to sauté onions before adding the rest of your ingredients makes “the whole food smell so good,” a simple trick that instantly elevates a meal with a richer aroma and deeper flavour.

Beyond the cooking, the conversation offered fans a glimpse into Tyla’s journey over the past year. She reflected on her career, the lessons that have come with her rapid rise to global stardom, and how she’s continuing to evolve as an artist. She also teased what’s to come, opening up about the creative process behind her new album, APOP, and what listeners can expect from this new chapter.
