Chukwukadibia Ezeanyanwu recently walked away from the Miss Nigeria Beauty & Fashion Fair in 2026 with the Daily Times Young Designer of the Year title, ₦30 million in prizes and support, and a national spotlight trained firmly on his name.  But none of that was by stroke of luck, but moments building itself over time.

Judges praised his originality, attention to detail, and clear creative direction, noting that his work reflects both technical skill and a distinct artistic voice. His collection blended cultural storytelling with striking silhouettes and immaculate craftsmanship. He received a ₦10 million cash prize, ₦15 million in media and marketing support from  Folio Media and New Crystal Communications and ₦5,000,000 worth of media across 12 radio stations in Nigeria with Megaletrics

Speaking after his win, he described it as a defining moment in his journey, hinting at plans to grow his brand, collaborate with other creatives, and take his designs to a wider audience. That composure, grateful but already looking forward, tells you something about the man.

Ezeanyanwu is the creative behind Kadi Clo, his fashion label, and Shop Akwa, his retail outfit. The brand carries a clear signature: contemporary silhouettes anchored in Nigerian cultural identity, executed with the kind of precision that only comes from someone who genuinely loves the craft. It has earned him a clientele, a community, and now, a crown.

What makes his story compelling is not just where he is, but where he came from to get here. He is from Ifitedunu in Dunukofia, Anambra State, not a fashion capital by any conventional measure. He studied Public Administration at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University. No design school, no industry shortcut. Just a sharp eye, a relentless work ethic, and the kind of self-belief that either breaks you or builds something extraordinary.

The industry got its first formal signal of his range in 2023, when he earned a nomination at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards for Best Costume Designer for his work on Shanty Town, one of the most culturally discussed Nigerian productions in that year. Costume design at that level demands an entirely different muscle: you are not dressing for aesthetics alone, you are dressing characters, building worlds, serving a director’s vision while maintaining your own integrity. The nomination confirmed that Ezeanyanwu could operate across registers.

Nigeria’s fashion industry is in a remarkable moment, young, restless, and increasingly impossible to ignore globally. Ezeanyanwu is not chasing that wave. He is part of what is making it.
