Every year, BellaNaija Style closes out Women’s Month with one of Lagos’ most anticipated events, BNS High Tea. An exclusive gathering of women coming together for conversation, connection, and of course, incredible fashion.

In 2024, the theme was Sophisticated Elegance, last year, the theme was Lagos High Fashion, where so many of our faves showed up in bloom. This year, the dress code is taking inspo from our pastel decor from last year, and we’re asking you to show up in  Pastels & Petals. For this, we want you to think soft, luminous colour, bloom energy,  your most radiant, most intentional self walking through those doors. This is not the time to blend into the background, this is the time to be the garden.

Here’s your full guide to showing up beautifully.

Start with the primaries

When in doubt, go back to basics. The three pastel anchors you can never go wrong with are yellow, pink, and blue. Idia Aisen wore a beautiful Orire pastel yellow dress at a previous High Tea edition.

So, these are your safe starting points, soft, sunny, and absolutely tea-party perfect. Once you’ve found your base colour, that’s when the fun begins. Throw in your own twist, mix, layer, or commit to one. Just make sure it’s soft, and it’s you. Mint and lavender are also very much on the table.

African designers we love for this moment

At BellaNaijaStyle, we are proud lovers of African fashion and African designers, and this is the perfect occasion to reach into your wardrobe, or treat yourself, and support the creatives making magic on the continent. Some of our favourites who do pastels beautifully: Désire Iyamah, Melira Official, Rendoll, Orire, Dye Lab, SheyOladejo RTW, Imad Eduso, and if you’re an adire lover, Dye Lab, and so many more.

PS: Pastel adire sits perfectly within this dress code, and is undoubtedly afrocentric.

Accessories

Statement floral jewellery? Yes, please. If you’ve been sitting on a bold floral piece wondering where to wear it, the answer is April 26th. This is the event it was made for. Of course, regular jewellery works beautifully too. Pearls, beaded necklaces, gold statement pieces, floral hair accessories, all perfect.

Makeup

You have two directions and both are winning: a burst of pastel colour, think soft lids, a pale blush lip, maybe even a flutter of coloured liner, or clean girl glam, glowy skin, glossy lip, fluffy brows, and a dewy highlight. Effortless and radiant. You truly cannot go wrong.

Come as your most bright and beautiful version of yourself, and we cannot wait to see you.
