The third edition of Lagos Canvas, an event that has quickly become a cornerstone of cultural expression, unfolded with a vibrant new energy at the Afrobeats Restaurant. This year’s iteration, hosted by media mogul Mo Abudu in collaboration with the Mayor of London, cemented its status as a powerful platform bridging African creativity with international influence.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the Lagos Canvas Fashion Showcase, a stunning display of sartorial vision presented by Chidera Muoka, curated by The HOZ Network, and powered by Essenza. This isn’t just an event; it’s a moment. A testament to Lagos as a thriving global fashion capital.

Echoes of the Now: A Runway Reimagined
The runway came alive with a theme of “Echoes of the Now,” a concept that perfectly captured the spirit of the showcased collections. This was not a nostalgic look back, but a powerful forward-facing statement. Designers presented collections deeply rooted in cultural memory—the rich heritage of Nigeria and beyond—while speaking a bold, urgent, and modern language.
The designs themselves were a masterclass in progressive aesthetics: fluid silhouettes that moved with effortless grace, gender-neutral tailoring that challenged traditional norms, bold prints that told stories, and an air of androgyny that felt both fresh and timeless. It was a clear signal that Nigerian fashion is not just following trends; it is setting them.
Heralding Beauty: The Essenza Touch
Complementing the avant-garde fashion was the striking beauty direction by Essenza. The lead makeup artist, viewing the models’ faces as a canvas, translated the designers’ vision into a series of flawless looks. The mood board was a sophisticated reflection of global runway trends that have seamlessly integrated into the daily lives of Lagosians: dewy skin, illuminated eyes, and bold lips. The makeup was not an afterthought; it was a deliberate and integral part of each look, embodying an attitude that is both vibrant and confident.

The Designers Shaping the Future
The runway was a Who’s Who of cutting-edge talent, featuring collections from some of the industry’s most exciting names.
Imad Eduso presented the whimsical Jojo Skirt Set and Labo Skirt Set from the Laba Laba Vol 2 Collection.
E.S.O By Liman showcased a modern take on tradition with the Mitch Match Agbada and Oval Dress.
Hertunba’s Joy Collection brought a burst of color with the Nma Maxi Dress, Acha Tangerine Kaftan, and Adora Tangerine Dress.
M.O.T The Label redefined urban sophistication with the Didun Set and Ajoke Set from the Urban Elegance collection.
Henri Uduku’s A Linen Affair Collection featured the effortlessly chic The Chidi Set.
JZO and 14zeroseven presented their own unique perspectives, further solidifying the diverse talent on display.
Wanni Fuga’s presentation included the Benaya Skirt Anagram and Iris Bodysuit, as well as the Anagram Slip Dress X Zaya Kimono with Simi 2.0 Silk head pieces, a poetic fusion of form and texture.
The finishing touches were provided by the bold, architectural jewelry of Unrefyned Studios and the statement footwear of Maliko, proving that true style is a harmonious blend of every detail.
