We all know that feeling too well. January was meant to be the month you finally started the gym, committed to a “clean” diet, kept up with your daily journaling, or smashed that 10k-steps-a-day goal. If you didn’t, that’s okay. Let’s just agree that January was about finding your rhythm and learning how to balance life and work.

Now February is here, and it’s the perfect time to make a few gentle shifts. Are you in?

Here are 5 habits to adopt into your overall wellness and fitness routines:

Try mini challenges

Notice how we said try? That’s because the goal is to build the discipline needed to achieve results slowly, sustainably, and effectively. From the 75 Hard Challenge to 100 Days of Fitness and beyond, there are countless routines designed to nourish your mind, strengthen your body, and elevate your overall appearance.

And you don’t have to dive in headfirst. Start by exploring shorter or lower-intensity challenges that help you build consistency and confidence, one step at a time.

@monetmcmichael i heard 21 days makes a habit stick 💕💡🎀💪🏾 i’ve been thinking about this idea for a minute after attempting 75 hard last spring – i finally feel confident in the rules i decided on because it’s about realistic balance, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and having GRACE to try again!! these 6 things genuinely changed my quality of life over the past year and i’m so excited to do it together YAY so lmk if ur locking in with me for the next 3 weeks AYYYEEEE #21hotter ♬ original sound – monet mcmichael 🤍

Follow people who are already consistent at what you aim to achieve

We scroll through social media mindlessly, and get songs or trends stuck in our heads. That’s the power of snackable content on our attention spans. So taking advantage of this by filling your timelines with people who live the lifestyle you want is bound to rub off on you, and inspire you in the best ways possible.

Take stock repeatedly

Whether its weekly or monthly, treat your wellness and fitness goals as friends you’re constantly checking on. You want to understand what’s working or not convenient for you, and what can be incorporated into the systems you’ve already built. Simply put, don’t just set your goals, monitor them and be honest with yourself.

Journal, journal and journal

It’s incredible how much the human mind can hold on to every single day. To avoid overstimulation, and the burnout that can leave you feeling unmotivated to do the things you set out to achieve, start writing everything down. Think of it as keeping a little therapist at home, always available for you to yap to in peace.

@aspirewithemmagrede Without even knowing it, @Tracee Ellis Ross echoed the title of @Emma Grede’s upcoming book: START WITH YOURSELF! 💛 In this moment, she reminds us that designing a life of your own begins not with the plan, but with presence, with getting honest about what you feel, what you want, and what you already have. Start with yourself ✨ The universe has a funny way of bringing the message full circle.
