MMUSA, an African luxury brand featuring handmade made-to-order footwear and leather accessories for men will host an exclusive viewing of the ‘When We Were Kings’ capsule collection in Beverly Hills, California on May 25th, 2018. MMUSA’s distinctly crafted leather goods sustainably sourced end-to-end and produced in Ghana, West Africa will premiere in the US by appointment only to a select group of media, stylists and fashion influencers.

MMUSA is the made-to-order division of the Heel The World Group, Ghana’s first globally-recognised high-end shoemaking social enterprise whose name is inspired by Mansa Musa, the iconic 14th century Malian Emperor, historically documented as the richest man in history.

After launching during Paris Fashion Week 2018 at Luxury Connect Africa, MMUSA was featured in media outlets including Forbes and Luxury Society as a standout African luxury brand. Each piece of MMUSA’s When We Were Kings collection is handmade and celebrates the dexterity and finesse of a dying breed of African master craftsmen under the watchful eye of Heel The World Group’s founder Fred Mawuli Deegbe, a former banker turned social- entrepreneur. According to him:

A niche in the fashion industry is being organically carved out for MMUSA due to our authenticity, elegance and influences from African history. From the hand-carved wooden shoe boxes, ethically sourced exotic skins and Tuareg tooled leather, to the wooden heels and the golden urchin that crests our Cleo shoes, we ensure an authentic and sustainable supply chain manufactured in Africa. Our products aren’t simply beautiful, they are inspired by royalty.

The MMUSA private viewing will be hosted by legendary celebrity stylist, Groovey Lew who has developed a deep appreciation for African culture and style derived from his travels throughout Africa and a long history of connecting high fashion brands with entertainment and sports industry heavyweights including Diddy, Lauryn Hill, and Rick Ross. The intimate session will also highlight a full experience of the sounds, tastes and flavours of Africa complete with complimentary cocktails from Kasapreko Alomo Bitters, brewers of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages made from indigenous Ghanaian herbal and traditional blends.

During the MMUSA experience guests will have an opportunity to explore the brand and product line, meet with the founder and place custom orders.
