[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mawuli Gavor has all the makings of a silver screen heartthrob: a sense of style, a down-to-earth attitude, and he’s quite frankly – very hot . Oh and did I mention he’s super funny? (Hello! Husband material, 100 yards). And after a dapper turn at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards last year, we were eager to hear more from the fresh faced Ghanaian actor – and more importantly get the scoop and what he’s wearing and how he gets ready for the biggest night in film and television on the continent.

So we were beyond pleased when the Castle & Castle actor and 2018 AMVCA Red Carpet host, acquiesced to our request to join him while he got ready for the AMVCA’s this year. Styled by Koch House, Mawuli walked us through his red carpet pre game, style icons, and what it’s like being a Ghanaian in Nollywood. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]BNS: What look you are going for?

Classic with a twist or two.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]BNS: Pregame?

– Couple bananas. Keep the energy levels up. – Nice whiskey or cognac (neat) – Light snacks. Nothing heavy. Wings, small dodo (very necessary).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]BNS: Workout routine? On event day, workout will have to be early morning. 6/7am. Enough time to recover before night time. No particular workout routine for the day. Usually have a weekly plan so depends on what day the event falls on.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]BNS:Grooming routine?

– Quick bathroom mirror dance battle. Hot shower. – Brush,Floss. – Hair. (Not that much to do I have short hair. Coconut oil and a good brushing should do it. – Treat beard with oil/conditioner. Comb down. Skin (Ocean for Men Ultra Shea Butter. Thank me later)[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]BNS:What do you enjoy about hosting the awards red carpet?

Always interesting getting different peoples impressions and expectations of the upcoming show/ Getting to see all the random fashion designs people come up with up close.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]BNS:Style icons?

Tough. Can’t really say I keep up with any one particular persons style / fashion sense. I do happen to happen to like the style of people like Jose Mourinho (don’t ask), Dwayne Wade, closer to home people like Mai Atafo and my don Ebuka.

BNS:What’s it like being Ghanaian in Nollywood? Does it make a difference to how you’re received?

When I flew out here initially I remember telling my friends and family I was going to shoot a show and would be back in a couple months max.

Two years later.

Still here.

Living/ working here full time, but if anything I’ve actually been mad fortunate and  pretty blessed since moving to Nigeria, because I’ve had a ridiculous number of people support me in the time that I’ve been here.

I moved here primarily to work on an MNet show (Hush) so thats a huge part of my story but I ended up being lucky enough to have people like M.A [Mo Abudu] and the EbonyLife team take me in as well and open avenues that wouldn’t otherwise have been available to me.

I’ve had friends open up their homes to me until I was on my own feet, colleagues who got me other jobs without asking for anything in return. Had people fighting to get me on jobs here before I even arrived.

Fans who support me regardless of the fact that I’m not Nigerian. (Although to be fair a lot of them assume I am. Oops) Can’t realistically expect anything more if I’m being honest so at this point it’s pretty much just a matter of applying myself and facing each opportunity / obstacle day at a time. Enjoy the ride. See how this whole thing goes.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]See Past Red Carpet Ready stories.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
