Lisa Folawiyo Studios just announced the best news of the week. On Saturday and Sunday, the brand will be selling highly covetable pieces from their diffusion line J Label at a whopping 40% off!

From print-clashing shirts to flattering co-ords, see what our editors are eyeing from the blowout sale.

If like me your teen years are an awful long time ago, you might think that there is nothing there for you at J Label? After all, aren’t Diffusion Lines the hip, younger sister of the main event? Shouldn’t you just carry yourself quietly to the main offerings at Jewel By Lisa and Lisa Folawiyo Studio? Well, I am happy to say this is NOT the case with J Label and there is plenty to choose from whatever life stage you find yourself at. But we have been told to pick the Do-Or-Die ensemble and for me it is this one below:

Why do I love this look? Well because it packs a punch style wise  and I am all about high-impact but without trying too hard dressing: first there is the quirk factor of the sleeve with a contrasting fabric frill detail, which could equally be worn with aplomb with a pair of skinny jeans. Then there is the pencil skirt that is over the knee giving the wearer (that would be me) a  sense of demure-days-for-reals,  but because it is fitted will showcase the  small waist and womanly curves that I possess in abundance. In other words, perfect. The skirt too could be re-purposed, always important when you are thinking of repeat use factor – add a simple t or a denim-shirt and it immediately slips into Saturday brunch with the girls territory. Palette wise I am a sucker for deep shades of blue, found in both the blouse and skirt here, as they can work for formal and informal occasions and are generally kinder if you are wearing them on a bloater day, of which one still has a few. In short this ensemble needs to be in my wardrobe pronto….A case of signing out here so I can rush, beat the traffic and get there. Just call me focused. – Mazzi Odu.

I’ve always loved the Jewel by Lisa brand. The prints, colours, abstract silhouettes and asymmetric lines – it’s like futuristic Africa, modern Ankara as told by Lisa Folawiyo. The brand has never been in my price range in terms of “budget-friendly fashion” for those of us who aren’t quite there yet with “luxury fashion”, so I was super excited about the rise of The J Label.

Although I wish I really could have everything from the diffusion line in my size and in my closet RIGHT NOW, it’s just not possible with my body type. Adjustments need to be made based on my measurements and so I’m not about to go through all that wahala before everything gets sold out from under my nose.

Eki’s #1 Quick Pick

My quick pick of the sale rack would be this complete outfit above. I love that you can rock it together and as separates. Aside from play on prints (with sizes, colour and even print clashing on the shirt sleeve), my favourite detail is the slit on the thigh, for that extra sexy element that can totally take this look from day to night. What can I say, I like my pieces workable and a transition piece is important for a working girl.

I’m also really an A-line/flared skirt kinda girl, so this skirt below is also on my wishlist. But I probably wouldn’t wear it with this top, maybe a white camisole, t-shirt or button down shirt. I’d definitely want to pair it with white just so the navy and pink print on the skirt could be the focal point of the look.

I’ve got other faves that won’t be quick picks for me because… #curvygirlproblems. These three dresses below. I’d have to get them tailored, go for a few fittings and girl, ain’t nobody got time for that… it’s a SALE!

One more quick pick item (I promise I’m not greedy), THIS KIMONO! I’m going through a jacket phase at the moment with bomber jackets, denim jackets and kimonos/abayas and this J Label one will be absolutely perfect to add to that growing collection.

OK thank you, bye! ? – Eki Ogunbor

Basically, spring has almost sprung in Toronto and I’m in that place where I drive myself crazy with the endless outfit options while I wait for the cold to GO AWAY. Lol . I stay coveting the J.Label, but I have trouble pulling the trigger (because, Buhari), when I saw that this suit was on sale it felt like destiny!

A. I’m high-key obsessed with white based prints.

B. I’m always in the market for a strong pant suit.

And a co-ord can be played with in so many ways! Dressed up with heels and a silk cami, dressed down with brogues or sneakers and a graphic tee…just the jacket with jeans in summer. And for someone like me who likes to look like I put a tonne of effort into my ’fit, without you know, actually spending a lot of time figuring out what to wear, this is perfect. It has a super-flattering cut and I can wear it round the clock if I feel like it – which means I can easily justify the cost per wear so this is a massive win for me obviously. – Isoken Ogiemwonyi.

I’m in love with everything Lisa Folawiyo and the diffusion line – J Label is no exception.

The silhouettes, volumes, and palettes are really phenomenal. I call it wearable art! Right now the two pieces I cannot get over are:

The J Label robe: Cover-ups are one of my favourite wardrobe classics. I like this printastic design and the statement kimono sleeves make it that extra bit special. The oversized cut means it’s perfect for layering on top of slinky camisoles and for transitioning day to night time looks.

The tank top and cullotes: This matching set is the ultimate transeasonal outfit. I could wear with pumps for an easy yet smart office look or with sandals for a pretty brunch – you see mentally, this is already in my closet.
